Our Mission

 Mission Statement

The Brain Enrichment Initiative provides social emotional learning and brain wellness education through peer support and mentorship.

 Vision Statement

The Brain Enrichment Initiative provides education and support for social and emotional learning and enhanced brain health. Our organization works to remove social and emotional barriers to success while developing skills of empathy and empowerment. Participants will be empowered to navigate social emotional wellness and brain health by engaging in community and mentorship.

Our Core Values

Empathy, Empowerment, Community

The Brain Enrichment Initiative (BEI) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization formed in recognition of the role the brain plays in the development of emotional health. The development of empathy, listening, and social connectedness are fundamental in maintaining and enhancing the health of the brain. A healthy brain, developed through proper nourishment and positive social experiences of friendship and collaboration, is critical to mental health and the happiness in which life is experienced. BEI  works within the community, utilizing community partners in order to bring the most authentic human experience to those in the mentor program.

BEI’s unique design includes benchmark goal setting to establish a  behavioral picture of each participant. This process is designed to assist the school’s professional team in supporting behavior that may require future exploration. This process also provides progress in their interaction with others.

BEI creates individualized mentorship programs to meet the specific needs of the students, enriching processes already in place, and addressing behavioral, social and emotional challenges. Students will be assigned mentor support as well as peer partnership in a curriculum designed to educate growth mindset in social emotional learning and brain health.

In BEI’s sixteen week program, mentors will work with small groups of mentees completing lessons which follow the Ohio Department of Education’s social emotional course of study with the addition of education on brain health.  Upon graduating from the program, students will be empowered to identify social, emotional, and brain trauma in self and others, implement tools of growth, and feel part of a supportive community.
